Job Summary: 

The Underwriting Officer is responsible for evaluating and processing insurance applications for non-life insurance products. This role involves assessing risks, determining appropriate coverage, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Risk Evaluation: Analyze insurance applications and supporting documents to assess risk and determine coverage terms. 

  • Policy Issuance: Prepare and issue insurance policies, ensuring accuracy and compliance with underwriting guidelines. 

  • Client Interaction: Communicate with clients and agents to gather necessary information and clarify underwriting requirements. 

  • Documentation Management: Maintain detailed records of underwriting decisions, policy documents, and correspondence. 

  • Collaboration: Work closely with claims, sales, and actuarial teams to ensure effective risk management and service delivery. 

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements and internal policies throughout the underwriting process. 

  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to enhance underwriting processes. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. 

  • At least 2-4 years of experience in underwriting, preferably in non-life insurance. 

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. 

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills. 

  • Proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite. 

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
