The Network Engineer is responsible for the build, implementation, monitoring and managing the local and wide area network infrastructure. This includes, designing system configurations, procuring network equipment, documenting and managing installation of a new network, and maintaining and upgrading existing systems as necessary to maximize network efficiency and security. Tasked to perform problem isolation, diagnosis and restoration of network-related incidents and problems to achieve the team's performance goals and attain SLS with business users; this includes related incident documentation.

 

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Build and implement new network solutions and/or improve the efficiency of current networks with focus on Local Area Network and Wide Area Network, traditional and software-defined, wired and wireless.
  • Install and configure LAN and WAN equipment devices and its software as appropriate.
  • Identify, analyze, recommend and implement appropriate system enhancements that will improve the local and wide area network for optimum performance.
  • Enforces security protocol on LAN/WAN network devices.
  • Updating of network equipment to the latest firmware releases.
  • Provides project management in the implementation, installation, configuration, and technical support of LAN and WAN and coordinates projects with the stakeholders.
  • Serves as contact and liaison with vendors; reviews vendor products, and coordinates and facilitates vendor interviews and presentations.
  • Negotiates technical requirements with vendors; establishes contracts and writes technical contract specifications and technical recommendations.
  • Work closely with other units on technical activities to include activities involving compliance, access review and other unit requirements.
  • Identify gaps and recommend improvements to network operations.
  • Provides second and third level problem determination and correction
  • Initiates and recommends actions as required to resolve network concerns 
  • Investigate incidents/faults in the local and wide area network 
  • Participate in training programs, seminars, workshops and section meetings.
  • Maintains a broad knowledge of current and LAN and WAN systems technologies, architectures, and products.
  • Other function that may be assigned from time to time.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree, preferably B.S. Computer Engineering, B.S. Electronics and Communications Engineering or IT-related course 
  • At least three (3) years related work experience. Knowledge in banking operations an advantage. 
  • Proficient in Local Area Network, Wide Area Network, Software Defined Network, wired and wireless network technologies and corresponding routing and switching protocols.
  • Must be willing to work onsite and be assigned in Ortigas
