Wealth Advisory and Trust Group Risk Officer

Role Overview:
- Responsible for the implementation and continuous enhancement, as appropriate, of the Wealth Advisory and Trust Group credit, operational and market risk frameworks, policies and tools
- Responsible for the measurement, quantification and control of credit, operational and market risks.
Key Responsibilities:
A. POLICY FORMULATION
- Identify, analyze, measure and control risks inherent in the business in close coordination with the business/support units;
- Initiate and review existing policies and recommend appropriate amendments, as necessary, to ensure the policies’ soundness, relevance and effectiveness as a tool for managing risks while enabling Business Units to attain their business targets;
- Assist in the dissemination of risk management, overview and relevant policies throughout the Bank to ensure awareness and understanding of credit risk infrastructures;
- Ensure all policies, both new and amended, are reviewed and approved by the Trust Committee (and Risk Committee, if appropriate) and the Board of Directors;
- Participates in initiatives to align Trust risk management policies of the Bank and its parent bank; and
- Adhere to the Bank’s risk management policies and guidelines, and in so doing help promote a strong risk culture across business groups within the Bank.
B. REPORTING/MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS
Credit Risk Monitoring
- Prepare credit risk monitoring reports, i.e. Approved Limits Vs Utilization, Limit Excesses and Single Borrower’s Limit, on accurate basis for timely distribution to the relevant business units.
- Direct supervisor’s attention to adverse critical information that have been captured by the credit risk reports, i.e. limit breaches, etc, in order that appropriate decisions and measures are instituted on a timely basis;
- Provide the Trust Committee, Risk Management Committee and the Board of Directors with regular risk evaluations, ensuring that adverse critical information are properly identified and reported, analyzing limit exceptions and recommending enhancements to the limits structure;
- Assist in the regular assessment of the quality of the credit risk reports to ensure that they continue to be relevant, useful and effective tools for conveying information pertaining to the WATG portfolio
- Provide credit assessment on Directional Loans, accredited Issuers, Fund Managers and other Counterpaties.
- Spearhead and support the annual portfolio review of all directed loans and credit assessment of counterparts.
Market And Liquidity Risk Monitoring
- Validate pricing models and methodologies used for market and liquidity risk management and ensure that the model/s, including analytical tools used, are regularly reviewed to ensure its continued relevance;
- Coordinate technical review of new products and activities, including documentation and validation of valuation models, and verifying that systems output adequately capture risks;
- Ensure that market and liquidity risk reports and related management information systems are generated as required for submission to the Investment Committee, Trust Committee, Risk Management Committee and the Board of Directors; and
- Ensure that approved market and liquidity risk management policies and limits are complied with, with any deviations and/or limit excesses reported to the Investment Committee, Trust Committee, Risk Management Committee and the Board of Directors.
Operational Risk Monitoring
- Serve as Operational Risk Coordinator for WATG, i.e. coordination, preparation and submission of the Operational Risk Management report requirements on timely basis, such as Key Risk Indicators (KRI) Reports, Risk Control and Self-Assessment (RCSA) Reports, Customer Complaints/Feedback Reports, Business Impact Analysis and other BCP-related requirements, etc.
- Coordinate the investigation and reporting of risk incidents within WATG, including ensuring the submission of the corresponding Risk Incident Reports.
- Conduct Access Entitlement Review (AER) of all internal and external applications and systems.
- Ensure completeness of Information Asset Inventory report.
C. INTERNAL/EXTERNAL AUDIT AND REGULATORY EXAMINATIONS
- Assist the Trust Officer, in providing point person support on risk management policies and procedures during audits/due diligence of internal/external auditors and regulatory bodies; and
- Ensure satisfactory audit ratings from internal/external auditors and regulatory bodies.
D. ADMINISTRATION
- Assist in the identification of training programs that will enrich the skills and competence of unit personnel;
- Assist in the formulation of business plans and strategies that will ensure smooth and uninterrupted dispensation of the Unit’s mandate and functions; and
- Perform other duties within the general scope of aforementioned tasks as may be assigned by the Senior Risk Officer.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree holder
- At last 4 years of experience in risk management with a bank or financial institution, with background in credit and/or market/liquidity risk management
- Strong analytical skills
- Effective written and verbal communications skills
