Job Title: Tax Compliance Officer
Duties & Responsibilities
I. Philippine Tax Advisory
- Issue tax updates on laws, tax treaties, and BIR issuances to relevant business units and subsidiaries, and provide advisory on interpretation and implementation.
- Liaise with Global Operations and BDO Singapore/Hong Kong branches to monitor foreign tax rates, legislation, and compliance requirements affecting Head Office operations.
- Perform regular and special tax reviews of lending transactions involving Philippine and nonresident borrowers.
- Conduct annual review of related parties for BIR Form No. 1709 and support related party transaction reporting for income tax return attachments.
- Review related party transaction contracts across BDO and subsidiaries.
- Evaluate tax impact of special projects or unique transactions for local and international units.
- Provide tax opinions, guidance, and recommendations to BDO Groups and advise accounting units.
II. Tax Advocacy
- Represent BDO Unibank in BAP Tax Committee and other industry groups to promote banking sector positions on tax laws and regulations.
- Draft and submit BDO’s inputs to BAP position papers for submission to BIR, Congress, and Senate.
- Participate in technical working groups with the Senate, House, and BIR to provide tax policy and technical inputs.
III. Tax Assessments, BIR Administrative Filings, and Support to External Counsels
- Assist BDO subsidiaries during BIR and LGU audits by liaising with revenue officers and managing examination costs.
- Handle BIR administrative requirements and coordinate with LGU departments for business taxes, real property taxes, and local assessments.
- Facilitate securing and renewal of local business permits.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy or related field.
- 7–8 years of relevant experience in banking or financial industry.
- Willing to work onsite in Ortigas.
