Consumer Loans Credit Team Leader

JOB MANDATE:
The Consumer Loans Credit Team Leader is responsible for leading and managing a team of credit personnel who evaluates and process consumer loan applications. This role involves overseeing the underwriting process, ensuring credit risk assessments align with company policies, regulatory requirements and market conditions. This role will mentor team members, provide guidance on complex cases, and collaborate with other departments to enhance the loan approval process and improve credit efficiency.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead, manage and coach a team of credit personnel in evaluating consumer loan products

Set individual and team performance goals, monitor progress and conduct performance reviews

Oversee the evaluation of consumer loan applications, ensuring thorough credit risk assessments based on financial data, credit history and other relevant factors

Approve or decline loan applications within the delegated authority limits and make recommendations for higher-value or more complex loans to Senior Management

Ensure that underwriting policies adhere to credit guidelines and regulatory requirements

Participate in strategic meetings to align credit risk management strategies with the organization’s growth and profitability targets
