Credit Analyst

Job Summary
Primarily responsible for the credit evaluation of the Bank’s corporate risk assets across bank products (e.g. loans, LC’s, Trust, Treasury, etc.). The jobholder has the responsibility of ensuring that the highest standards of credit due diligence is conducted on all Commercial Banking (Combank) accounts with credit facilities as documented via the Executive Summary and Credit Proposal.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Initiate the regular and timely credit evaluation process of new and pre-assigned existing commercial borrowing accounts including group accounts. Evaluation responsibilities include the following:
- Ensure that the following are requested and obtained on time and prior to review schedule:
- Credit Investigation Report
- Audited and interim financial statements (as applicable)
- Financial spreadsheet and financial analysis
- Relevant industry and market studies/data
- Validation of the information obtained from above with the customer (as applicable)
- Other pertinent information required to conduct the appropriate credit review
- Conduct a site/plant visit of customer’s facilities to verify present business activity and provide a timely call memorandum.
- Provide a comprehensive Executive Summary, which encompasses the following:
- Brief Company background
- Business Outlook
- Historical and projected financial analysis
- Key risks and mitigating factors
- Assessment of the financing package & Recommendation
- Ensure that the following are requested and obtained on time and prior to review schedule:
- Ensure that the above data/documents, working papers, call memorandum & relevant correspondences and Executive Summary are orderly filed in CRC folders.
- Pro-actively manage the credit risks presented by the Bank’s portfolio of corporate risk assets by ensuring accounts are properly graded and risk rated at all times.
- Research and review on the various industries/businesses to ensure understanding of the company being assessed and subsequently provide approving officers/body with the following information:
- Historical performance of the industry
- Major players in the industry and their financial performance
- Key risk areas affecting the industry
- Critical success factors for industry players
- Prospects for the near term
- Regularly compile industry indices and financial benchmarks to evaluate performance of borrowers vis-à-vis the industry.
- Closely monitor early warning signals/indicators, such as declining deposit ADBs/volumes, frequent requests for loan extensions and payment default and as necessary, recommend appropriate courses of action to improve the portfolio.
- Adhere to the Bank’s credit and risk policies and guidelines and in so doing, contribute to RMG’s goal of promoting a strong credit and risk culture across groups/units within the Bank.
- Perform duties within the general scope of aforementioned tasks as may be assigned by Team Head.
